Jo King is the founder of ‘Botanical Home’. You could say that flowers and plants and owning a shop is in her blood.

Life’s too short not to do what you feel passionate about. That was my feeling when I moved on from a 20-year career in the corporate world, to open a shop full of beautiful, unusual plants, gifts and faux flowers; Botanical Home.
This was actually a return to what I love, having grown up in a flower and fruit shop. My parents encouraged me to get involved in arranging flowers and meeting new people in the shop. Moving away from the black and white world of corporate life, back to the colour and variety of plants and flowers felt like a big jump but at the same time, the most natural thing in the world.

I choose all my stock personally, with a constantly evolving supply of stock so it never gets stale. I only select items I know my customers would love, and things I would be happy to have in my own home or give as gifts. Working with small businesses, international suppliers, and individual artists, I pride myself on stocking items you might not see anywhere else.
I work with the seasons – spring plants, summer garden décor, faux flowers for autumn when the leaves fall out, then quirky and unusual decorations for the festive period.

Since the COVID19 outbreak, I’m very conscious that vulnerable people are spending more time at home and need it to feel special. At the same time, they’re less able to go out to the shops to find something new.
The next step – branching out with Botanical Home to sell online – means I can reach even more people around the UK, whether they’re able to get out and about or not, and help them to find something really unique for their home and garden.
